Nissan announced the new-generation Elgrand in August 2010, with Japanese sales from 18 August. Nissan’s own model history identifies this family as E52. The launch line-up offered 2.5-litre four-cylinder and 3.5-litre V6 petrol engines, described with Xtronic CVT-M6. Nissan documented both seven-seat captain’s-chair and eight-seat second-row bench arrangements.

01

Confirm the E52 family

Check the model code and build date in the vehicle documents. “Elgrand” spans several generations, and Nissan launched a separate all-new model in July 2026.

02

Identify the engine

The original E52 release names QR25DE for the 2.5-litre petrol and VQ35DE for the 3.5-litre V6. Confirm the engine and grade on the individual vehicle before comparing running costs.

03

Count the seats

Nissan described seven-seat cars with second-row captain’s chairs and eight-seat cars with a bench. Inspect the actual layout, mechanisms and third-row arrangement rather than trusting the badge.

04

Ask for evidence, not assumptions

Request export and service records, a condition report and the full fitted-equipment list. The 350 Highway Star Premium features in Nissan’s launch material must not be assumed on other grades.

This page does not prescribe a CVT fluid, service interval or repair method. Those need a Nissan service source for the exact year, chassis and transmission. The all-new Elgrand launched in Japan in July 2026 is a separate vehicle, not an E52 update.

From model
to actual car.

Use the generation as a shortlist, then verify the vehicle and its route to UK registration before committing.

Ask for: a readable Japanese chassis or identification plate, original registration or export evidence, auction or condition records where available, service history and clear photographs of the relevant grade and equipment. Compare the documents with the vehicle itself.

Plan the UK route: establish what import declaration, tax, approval or exemption, DVLA registration and insurance steps apply to the individual car. GOV.UK’s importing-vehicles guide ↗ sets out the current official process. An overseas launch fact does not establish UK compliance, cost or registration status.
