Toyota launched the redesigned Noah in Japan on 20 January 2014, alongside the differently styled Voxy. The new, lower and flatter floor was designed to ease access and improve the cabin layout. Original petrol versions used a 2.0-litre 3ZR-FAE engine with Super CVT-i; Toyota scheduled 1.8-litre full hybrid models for 14 February. The launch table separates seven- and eight-seat petrol cars from seven-seat front-wheel-drive hybrids.

01

Decide between petrol and hybrid

The 2014 launch petrol engine is 2.0-litre 3ZR-FAE with Super CVT-i. The 1.8-litre 2ZR-FXE hybrid uses THS II. Toyota’s launch hybrid table lists front-wheel drive and seven seats; do not assume an eight-seat hybrid.

02

Choose the actual second row

Toyota describes long-sliding captain’s chairs for seven-seat versions. Eight-seat petrol versions have a different arrangement. Test access to the third row and the folding sequence on the car you are considering.

03

Check drive and grade

The launch petrol table includes front- and four-wheel-drive cars; the initial hybrid table lists front-wheel drive. A badge alone is insufficient to establish drivetrain, options or Japanese type code.

04

Keep the Toyota names distinct

The Noah and Voxy share the 2014 package but have different faces and grade names. Confirm that photographs, auction sheet and documents all identify the same model.

Toyota’s 23.8 km/l figure in the 2014 release is a Japanese JC08 result for the hybrid, not a UK real-world figure and not a value for every Noah. Equipment and dimensions can vary by grade and later update.

From model
to actual car.

Use the generation as a starting point, then verify the vehicle and its route to UK registration.

Check the car: Compare the Japanese model and grade with the export documents and chassis plate. Check the seat count, sliding-door operation, third-row fold and service history on the specific car, particularly if an advert uses generic Noah photos.

Plan the UK route: For a UK import, price the complete vehicle-specific route and obtain an insurance quote for that model and powertrain. Use GOV.UK to confirm customs notification, any due tax, vehicle approval or exemption and DVLA registration requirements; do not infer them from the Japanese hybrid test figure.
