TOYOTA / ESTIMA / 2006 REDESIGN

Toyota Estima 2006 Generation

A sleeker MPV route with petrol and later hybrid branches. The first decision is which of those branches a specific car belongs to.

Start with
the right car.

Toyota began Japanese sales of its redesigned Estima on 16 January 2006. The launch petrol table included 2.4-litre 2AZ-FE models with Super CVT-i and 3.5-litre 2GR-FE models with a six-speed automatic, across seven- and eight-seat layouts. Toyota separately launched a redesigned Estima Hybrid in June 2006 with THS II and E-Four. The two dates should stay separate when reading an advert.

01

Choose petrol or hybrid deliberately

The petrol and hybrid releases are separate. A 2006 Estima may be either; check the identification plate and original Japanese grade before budgeting or describing the drivetrain.

02

Check the physical fit

The Estima's flowing shape can conceal differences in seat access and luggage use. Bring real passengers or child seats to inspect the second row, third-row fold and doorway access.

03

Read options against the grade

Toyota's 2006 material includes Aeras and G examples, plus adapted Welcab versions. An adapted vehicle or different trim needs its own seating and equipment check.

These facts describe a dated Japanese release. A later update, a different grade or an individual imported car can differ.

Check the build date, Japanese grade, chassis/type code and fitted equipment. No engine, seating, drive or feature should be copied into a vehicle advert without matching evidence.

Turn research
into proof.

Use the guide to ask precise questions about a real car. Review its records and inspect the actual vehicle before a buying decision.

  1. Match engine, drive, seat count and model year to the chassis plate and Japanese paperwork.
  2. Operate sliding doors, seat rails and folding hardware; photograph the full cabin.
  3. For a hybrid, seek model-specific hybrid service evidence rather than assuming petrol maintenance covers it.
  4. Check UK dimensions, insurance and the registration route for the exact import.

State whether seven or eight seats matter more than the choice of 2.4 petrol, V6 or hybrid. Supply the actual grade and record for any candidate Estima.
